Patients will check in with the concierge and determine if all necessary paperwork has been completed. If their files are completed they will have a seat until their nurse comes for them. If their files are not complete, they will check with our Registration Desk first to complete their file and then have a seat until their nurse comes for them.
Family and friends will wait in the lobby on the first floor. Our concierge will keep them informed as updates are provided. Avala also offers a second floor lobby area that is extremely quiet and great for reading or relaxing. All family members or guests are allowed in the second floor lobby area. If surgery is rather lengthy, family/friends may leave for a while after they have provided the concierge with a name and telephone number. We also like to know how much lead-time is necessary for family to return to Avala in cases where we need to contact and inform them that the patient is ready for discharge.
